The arthropods of insects are one of the most crucial structures in the process of evolution; these jointed limbs undertake multiple functions such as support, grasping, movement and hunting, and also symbolize the most fundamental breakthrough of life when a larva transforms into an insect.
It not only improves the inherent limitations of the larval stage, but also endows insects with true mobility and survival ability.
Jimmy Gutson draws inspiration from the segmented structure of arthropods, cutting and recombining the lines of the trousers to simulate the support of an exoskeleton. The contrast between gathered and ungathered edges, along with the splicing and misalignment of materials, in the pockets presents a coexistence of order and chaos in the process of "transformation."
